How it Works?

Every grocery recommendation on AgriESG goes through three stages to make sure it is practical, reliable, and personalized.

• First, we check whether a suggested food swap would realistically work for people in everyday life. The system considers things like taste, texture, and cooking effort, filtering out alternatives that people are unlikely to choose or enjoy.

• Second, we analyze 25 years of UK agricultural supply data to understand which food categories are currently under pressure from shortages or supply challenges. When certain foods are becoming harder or more expensive to supply, the platform recommends alternatives with more stable availability.

• Finally, our system compares options across four key areas at the same time, affordability, nutrition, environmental impact, and supply reliability. Recommendations are then tailored to each user’s preferences and priorities.

The platform currently supports over 100 food products across five categories, using live substitution data and real supermarket pricing from Tesco, ASDA, and Aldi.
